Stuff from the amazon.co.uk
Some Porsche and VW books and DVD:s arrived today, too bad I need to leave for a busines trip tomorrow, othervice it would have been nice just stay inside under blanket and enjoy good reading and watch DVD:s. By the way, I drove a real 1944 Kübelwagen today, it was -16 degrees celcius outside, and ofcourse we had the top open! Video will come later.

Acid dip
I dipped 912 brake discs into mild citric acid for a couple of days and the result was impressive. This was the first time I tried the acid dip for rust removal. And I think it works beautifully! Now I got the calipers boiling in! More pic's here!

912 Brakes - cleaning
Damn this was slow, it took almost two hours to clean one rear caliper for painting. Mostly I used angle grinder and wire wheel, and then light sand blasting to spot the wire wheel was not able to reach. Next question will be what colour I should paint them? I believe they were originally plated with yellowish zinc coat? More pics here.

Breaking Brakes
I started to disassemble brakes on my 912 for rebuild. Car has not been driven much in recent years and one caliper already got stuck last summer. So I'm planning on rebuilding all calipers and machining the rotors. Rear protective plates must be sourced, but other components can be rebuild. More pictures here.
